Summary :
The stone is the oldest and most popular weapon in the history of mankind. Aways at hand, a stone can be used without preparation. With FLIGHT OF THE STONE the audience experiences how a stone - in this case a cobble-stone - is torn out of its environment and made a tool of violence : someone throws it at an enemy. The stone misses its goal, enters the orbit of the earth, and from there witness human relationships and fights. The stone continues its flight around the world until it comes again near the person who threw it. The production of FLIGHT OF THE STONE took two years to complete. The shooting of the film was quite an adventure with the camera following the stone around the world. More than 500 people helped in some way. The opening and closing scene of the film (a street fight) takes place in Leipzig, Germany. The music was composed and produced by Büdi SIEBERT. Original sounds and language were used in order to place the viewer acoustically in each respective environment. Foley sounds were used as well as archival sounds. The actual "sound of stone" was produced by a synthesizer.
