Summary :
The STONE is the oldest and most popular weapon in the history of mankind. Aways at hand, the stone can be used without preparation. With FLIGHT OF THE STONE the audience experiences how a stone - in this case a cobble-stone - is torn out of its environment and made a tool of violence: someone throws it an enemy. The stone misses its goal, enters in the orbit of earth, and from there witness human relationship and disputes. The stone continues its flight around the world until it approaches the person who threw it. The production of FLIGHT OF THE STONE took two years to complete. The shooting of the film was quite an adventure with the camera following the stone around the word. More than 500 people helped in some way. The opening and closing scenes of the film (a street fight) take place in Leipzig, Germany. The music was composed and produced by Büdi Siebert. Original sounds and language were used in order to place the viewer acoustically in each respective environment. Foley sounds were used as well as archival sounds. The actual "sound of stone" was produced by a synthesizer.
