IRMA

of DUCHESNE Sylvie, LIGEON-LIGEONNET André

FRANCE, 1994, 00:26:00

Production : CANAL PLUS, CICV PIERRE SCHAEFFER, DUCHESNE Sylvie, LIGEON-LIGEONNET André
Genre : Documentary, Social documentary
Keyword : Love, Exclusion, Portrait, Society

Summary :
Jean-Marie and Irma have been "married" for two years under the authority and will of their community. They talk about love, under the bridges and in squats. "My life is worth as much as that of others, it's a nice lifeÂ…" says Irma. One day, the tragedy happens : Jean-Marie is hit by a subway train (it was on Thursday, the 10th of March of this year). Whoever sees this film will never forget Irma's last caresses and kiss to Jean-Marie, lying on the table of the morgue, and who, she says, "hadn't been so well shaved for a long time". The community buries him and salutes his passing away. Irma cries and comforts herself with the wine that "takes away the fear every morningÂ…". She talks like a book about love and death, about solidarity, about the friends around her and about the man who will come from the Netherlands and take her with him. And that friend arrives with his velosolex and trailer. He is beautiful like a Native American. He looks like Léo Ferré. They leave together for an elsewhere where Evangeline's name will never be Irma again.
