MALANGGAN tells of the Malanggan rituals, ceremonies, and artworks. It was shot in Papua New Guinea, on the Tabar Islands, during the commemoration of the dead. The film shows us the very beautiful collection of Malanggan artefacts owned by the Basel Museum für Volkerkunde, in parallel with the preparation of new Malanggan artworks and rituals, in the Kuk tribe, in 1994.
