Magdalena ABAKANOWICZ, a Polish sculptor, worked on the impressive steel moulds of Le Creusot. Those moulds now make up the "sarcophagus" set. Although death is at the center of her questioning, life is too, in all that is inexorable and fragile in it : the earthly frames, the bodies, the bellies : all those silent "bags" have in common that they are forms of life as well as forms of knowledge and memory.
