Summary :
The bear, firmly tied-up, is sitting on Moscow snow and begins to dream.
It is twenty degrees below zero outside and the glacial wind makes the snow spin around. In the street, Muscovites are selling shoes, a dog and a monkey are muffled up, the escalator leads us out of the underground while others are swimming in a steaming swimming-pool in the open air. Sometimes, as a way to earn a living, some people dress up as clowns or as wolves in order to lure the passers-by inside the shops.
The wolf gives his phone number to the narrator (a woman). He is young and his name is
Ilia Krone. His mouth has the same shape as hers, as if it were sheer harmony. Moscow seems empty to her when he is not there. “He has the look of a guy who wants to come to France”, a friend says to her. By the way, things don’t improve as the time goes by. Moscow is a city where people say that the colder it gets, the more people lie.
