I’ve been in Sangatte since yesterday. “the last step before England”, that’s what the smuggler promised me when I boarded the train to Calais. The Red Cross is in charge of the camp and, if I’m not mistaken, the police don’t go in it. Apart from that, it’s all about routine. Finding food, a blanket, a bed. Finding a way to get through and with the right person, sleeping a bit. And then, leaving, walking at night on country roads towards the port or the station. Eventually, there are the barbed wire entanglements. Their blasted frontiers ! But still, I have to get through.
