Summary :
This second part, with slower sequences and close shots, accompanied by sweet and mysterious music, could be called "Investigation". In content as well as in technique (the superimposition of super 8 and video), Alain FAVRE studies obstacles, what they hide and therefore what they reveal. The urban setting, metal gates and subway entrances give him the possibility, as they did for Edouard MANET, of playing with the idea of "showing-erasing". A fleeting passage through nature that strongly contrasts with the rest is nonetheless puzzling. The final chiaroscuro makes buildings look like human figures, before the mad acceleration of the city disintegrates these structures into watercolour patches. (Catherine SCHALLER)
