One young journeyman roofer is about to start his tour of France, another one is about to complete it. Both boys are driven by a same ideal, a conception of « fine work » (« beau travail ») which dates back to the Middle Ages. By filming skillful and agile hands, concentrated faces, loved tools, it is another conception of manual work which arises and reveals its emancipating power.
