Angel Scan. «Trip» – but without substances – except the substances created by the brain when energy awakes as a creative conscience, accompanied by an intense experience of "light" and "darkness". Hustle and bustle, bombing of atoms, dance of electric particles animated of an ultra fast movement.Invisible units of infra-atomic energy, forms/colours which are characterized by their irradiating heat and by their attraction strength as well as their potential of sound/ vibratory energy. Putrefaction / calcination / sublimation / projection are major steps of the alchemic Grand Oeuvre. Mandrake / Egregore. Artis auriferae.Angel Scan is as much a « psychogram » (here inside), as a « cosmogram » (here outside). In two words: It is the reception of the Angel in us despite the vanity of existence. The statement of Angel Scan is of a philosophical order. And it’s real life.Here, meaning resides in experience.Maria Klonaris - Katerina Thomadaki, Paris 2007 During the whole movie, micro-event are ingraving on a nearly immobile face (or which constantly undergoes the image frosts). Stains, electronic « snow », points, whirl, flashes, deflagrations just like in Pulsar, decomposition / desiccation of the image, waves, all kind of turbulences, oscillations (space of phrases); all kind of structures modelling the idea of scanning, which we can then compare to writings of the inside and to structure indices hidden in pictures, reproducing cognitive operations which try to identify the phenomenon we have in front of our eyes. Thoughts process, analysis of the phenomenon? A reading of complexity is transcribed in this imagery. (…) Why does the Angel appear filled with gold? When I say « filled with gold », I extend the term to the action consisting of covering a statue with gold. This is my personal interpretation of some pictures in which the face of Mary doesn’t appear anymore, in which there seems to have been a fusion between the Angel and her. How forms come to life is the question Angel Scan arouses. The movie answers to it by the representation of the limitless exploration of a non-linear dynamic system with its curve lines, loops, recursions constantly constructing in space: A chaos organising itself. The image is building up step by step in front of our eyes. However, there is not just one image since it is a movie. Angel Scan is composed of living images which enter in interaction with our perception, with the way we understand things, and I got the feeling that this is where the truly aim of art resides.Louis-José Lestocart (INHA, 2008.)
