His artistic practice is quite rich but the best way to understand his work is probably to take a look at his biography. Pascal Lièvre arrived in Paris in the 80s from Normandy (where he was born). He had never seen a painting and was coming from a "popular" culture (also the title of his exhibition in Pau), which refers to both his origins and such culture: the culture of popular music, popular books and game shows. Lacan Dalida or Abba Mao, two of his five videos are currently presented in a place that well corresponds to them, that is the Video K10, in a shopping mall in Pau.
