Borgeaud Pierre-Yves

born in 1963

videographer, director, journalist, producer, musician

While still a student of literature, Pierre-Yves Borgeaud works at the Swiss Cinémathèque and spends his time discovering the classics of cinema. In perfect self-taught, he began to run some super-8 films. In 1989, he produced 'Another Love Story', his first short film in 16 mm, for which he won an award at the Locarno Film Festival. Meanwhile, the director is a freelance journalist and music critic and film for different media, and drummer for the band Urgent Feel, who has three albums to his credit. By 1996, he devoted himself fully to the achievement and obtains a certificate from the University of New York, the video department. It then connects the filming and working with ECM, German record label for which he produced several videos and documentaries. Passionate about music, he produced several music documentaries and receives an award in 2000 from the Vaudoise Foundation for the Advancement of artistic creation. He spends long format in 2003 with 'iXième' film that won the gold lion video at the Locarno Film Festival. After returning to the musical film with a documentary on the brothers Muthspiel, he signed in 2008 'Return to Goree', in which he juxtaposes jazz history and slavery, along with Youssou N'Dour.
