Summary :
It is the model’s hieratic attitude that inspired Robert Wilson in this short that sprang up from Cézanne’s “Woman with the coffee pot”. The camera is fixed and constantly remains within the exact frame of the painting. A few close ups on the face endows this body with some expression, a body filmed in its stiffness and its motionlessness. Sat and wedged in the set, the dancer uses her presence that only shows through her face, or more exactly through her look. Her eyes follow the appearance and disappearance of the object of the still life, resting on the table, namely a cup, a spoon, and a coffee pot. A couple of flying intrusions occur in her back to underline the spatial depth and what is out of the field of vision of the painting.
