Summary :
This film is part of a series called “Birthplaces of creation”. Through the presentation of a work of art, each episode explores a place that gave birth to a major artistic or cultural movement, at a precise moment in history.
From the fall of Napoleon to Restoration and the July Monarchy, France in the beginning of the 19th century experiences numerous political disruptions, along with changes in every realm of society. Romanticism breaks out in 1824 at the Salon, with Delacroix : those new pictorial, but also literary and musical aesthetics reveal the controversy between traditional and modern values.
