Interviews with Amadou Chab Tour�

Amadou Chab Tour� lives and works at Bamako. He is claiming two professional status : professor in aesthetics and gallery manager at Bamako. His critic word sounds, not in the distance, but in the daily artistic creation of the Mali and the african continent. The privileged place of Chab offers to us a word of truth.

The presentation of the meetings is in two parts :
First part : interview of May the 4th, 2005.
He speaks about the historical process of the artistic creation, and specially about the photograpy at the Mali : from the colonization to the present time. His reflexion is lighting us up on the relationships between the artists and their social environment, and the place that they have taken beyond the borders of their lands.

Second part : interviews of September the 3rd, 2006 and January the 9th, 2007.
The interview of September the 3rd, 2006 is a critic analysis of the artistic creation in Africa, and its complex, passionned and ambiguous relation with the Europe. The interview of january the 9th, 2007 starts with �I think that it is luck when you are able to hope��

At the Mali, in summer 2002, I started to carry out portraits : artists, gallery managers, art students� I realized that a form should be found to the words I was hearing over there. These words had been stolen, deviated, caricatured� this way reproducing behaviours of authority and submission of which we know well the negative extensions. A fix shot and a minimal sound recording, with a mike and a sober editing. This is derisory, but, actually, the essential is there. I am convinced I have took the right decision. This constraint became a positive asset.
