Summary :
BROKEN BIRD is an improvised video performance exploring the balance between restriction and liberty. Within the constraints of a caged head and a re-defined vocabulary of movement due to the ostrich-foot pointe shoe, the artist's struggle for freedom is poignant and familiar. Like an earthbound bird on a traffic-island full of pigeons, or a graceful firebird in a grounded aeroplane in a scrapyard, the artist grapples with realising the fanstasy of liberty, and finds success within failure ... "Ironically, it is when I work at being free that I find the meaning of freedom" (Elu) Improvised choreograpy & interpretation : Elu
