Summary :
Archi sickness presents a fragmented view of the body in relation to the architecture of big cities. Since 2009, Mounir Fatmi extracts scenes from the American detective series. These shots, of barely a few seconds of tremendous violence, show parts of the dead body and the architecture of the city. The juxtaposition of close-ups of the body on the autopsy table with aerial wide shots of the cities brings out a visual violence that goes beyond the idea of crime and takes us away from the narrative. The organs are manipulated as objects, without respect for the deceased persons. The most private, deepest parts of the corpse are exhibited as trophies. The most important thing here is the scientific evidence, in the absence of any humanity. The architecture of the city becomes then witness and accomplice in this crime.
