Summary :
In 2003, during a trip to Tokyo, I filmed a dozen hours of rushes with a Mini DV camcorder, thinking of making a film that I never managed to finalize. The work of time opens the mind: I plunge again into the images, scan them and by dint of looking at them I finally find a shape, bathed by Chris Marker’s and Nicolas Bouvier’s writings about Tokyo. "Faces" is born sixteen years later.
It is an invitation to plunge into the heart of a city and its inhabitants. A form of sound and visual narrative, punctuated only by three texts by Marker.
The film transports the spectator into an ecstatic state, evoking the possibility of a dreamed world, filmed by an insistent camera, which details the faces and attitudes of the city dwellers
